June 11 is our monthly meeting date. This month you will have two options.
Our regular support meeting will take place at St. John’s Church from 7:30 to 8:30. If you need to talk or just want to listen, this is the place to be.
However, also on June 11 some of us will be attending the North Jersey Pride Event at the Claridge Theater in Montclair. This will be a film, “Blackbird”, depicting a 17 year-old boy’s struggle with his sexuality.
Screening of “Blackbird” and Director Q & A will be June 11 from 8 to 10:15 pm at the Bow-Tie Claridge Cinema, 486 Bloomfield Ave., Montclair, NJ.
Here’s a summary of the film:
Seventeen-year-old Randy (Terrell Tilford) tries very hard to be a good person. Since his father (Isaiah Washington) left, Randy takes care of his emotionally disturbed mother (Mo’Nique), and he’s the kind of friend all of his classmates can depend on. As strong as he seems on the outside, Randy is hiding a secret inner struggle and denial of his true self. It’s not until he opens himself up to love that he discovers that becoming a man means accepting who you really are.
